Pyroxene mineral, sodium and iron silicate (NaFeSiO), commonly found in alkaline igneous rocks, particularly in syenites (composed of an alkali feldspar and a ferromagnesian mineral) and syenite pegmatites. It also occurs in schists. Aegirine is generally dark green to greenish black.
